Critical Mass Radio Network (CMRN) is a decentralized international radio network composed of independent community radio stations. CMRN is organized for the purpose of broadcasting a coordinated signal over the internet that is broadcast quality and capable of being delivered over the FM band.
The network is organized according to our Principles of Unity, and is intended to further the growth of independent community based radio regardless of the broadcast medium. This site is intended to provide the means for community radio stations to rebroadcast the CMRN signal. The signal itself is composed of the radio stations that make up the network.
Principles of Unity
1. The Critical Mass Radio Network is based upon principles of equality, decentralization and local autonomy. The network is composed of community-based radio stations that recognize the importance in developing a network of radio communities.
2. The network considers open access to information a prerequisite to the building of a more free and just society.
3. The network recognizes the importance of process to social change and is committed to the development of non-hierarchical relationships, from interpersonal relationships to group dynamics. Therefore, participants shall work to develop participatory democratic processes that are transparent to its membership.
